Huis Andrew Murray (HAM) Children’s Home, located in Wellington, in the Cape Winelands region, is a safe haven for 155 children between the ages of 1 and 18 who have been orphaned or removed from their families by the children’s court.

Many arrive carrying deep emotional and physical scars, and at HAM, the focus is on healing and creating an environment where every child can grow up and flourish in a community.

Children come to HAM from across the Western Cape, each carrying their own story of hardship. Through therapeutic and developmental programmes, the home helps them heal from trauma, rebuild their sense of self, and discover the strength to believe in their own potential.

The goal is not only to protect and support them but also to equip them with the tools they need to thrive and break free from cycles of social challenges. Beyond the children in their care, HAM also extends a supportive hand to other NPOs in the area, reflecting a commitment to uplifting the wider community.

FoodForward SA (FFSA) assists HAM to meet their monthly food needs, with the provision of much-needed food groceries. This support is made possible thanks to financial support from Quantum Foods, one of FFSA’s long-time donors, which ensures that the children’s home receives nutritious food monthly. As a result, HAM can save on its food budget and redirect those funds towards essentials like education, therapy, and clothing. In this way, the children are not only nourished but also given access to the best possible care and opportunities.
