FoodForward SA Named Finalist in the 2026 Eco-Logic Awards

We are honoured to be named a finalist in the 2026 Eco-Logic Awards in the Circular Economy & Waste Innovation category, recognising FoodForward SA’s work to address food loss and waste at scale across South Africa.

The recognition highlights the growing connection between environmental action, circular economy solutions and community impact. Food loss and waste is not only a food security issue, but also an environmental one. When food is lost or wasted, so too are the land, water, energy and other resources used to produce it.

Globally, food loss and waste account for an estimated 8 to 10% of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2025/26, FoodForward SA distributed 20,500 tonnes of surplus food, helping to avoid an estimated 106,600 tonnes of GHG emissions.

By recovering safe, edible surplus food and redirecting it to underserved communities through our network of Beneficiary Organisations, FoodForward SA helps keep valuable resources in circulation while supporting people experiencing food insecurity. This is circular economy thinking in action, with food recovery contributing to both climate action and community resilience.

We are proud to be recognised alongside organisations helping to drive positive environmental and social change. The 2026 Eco-Logic Awards announcement will take place on 5 October 2026.
