Spotlight on Bloomberg Philanthropies: Growing Impact Together

Real change often begins with something small.

For Bloomberg Philanthropies, World Environment Day was an opportunity to invest in a simple yet powerful act of giving back. As a longstanding FoodForward SA partner, staff members came together to plant seeds that will grow into seedlings before being distributed to beneficiary organisations across our Gauteng network.

While each seed may be small, its potential is significant.

Once nurtured into healthy seedlings and planted in community food gardens, they become part of a much bigger story. They help increase access to nutritious food, strengthen community resilience, create opportunities for income generation and restore dignity through sustainable food production.

For Bloomberg Philanthropies, this initiative demonstrates how collective action can grow into lasting impact. By investing their time and energy, employees are contributing to something far greater than a single day of volunteering. They are helping create opportunities that will continue to benefit communities long after the seeds have been planted.

The World Environment Day initiative is one example of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ ongoing commitment to creating positive change. Throughout the year, the organisation supports FoodForward SA through a range of volunteer initiatives and awareness days, including Earth Month, Mandela Day and World Food Day. Each opportunity brings people together around a shared purpose of reducing food insecurity while contributing to a healthier planet.

At FoodForward SA, we are grateful for partners who understand that lasting change is built through sustained commitment. Together, we are planting the seeds for a future where more people have reliable access to nutritious food and the opportunity to thrive.
