Beneficiaries Served Daily

During the 2021/2022 financial year, we distributed 48 million meals and reached 875,725 people daily through a network of 2,225 beneficiary organisations, across South Africa. We achieved this at a cost per meal of only R0,68, due to the tremendous support from our donors, partners and volunteers.

For the new financial year, we aim to distribute enough food to make 70 million meals, through a network of 2,750 beneficiary organisations. We will increase our Mobile Rural Depots in order to reach more rural communities. We can do this with your support. Join the food recovery revolution and donate now

Warehouse Foodbanking

We source, collect, and store edible surplus food from the supply chain – farmers, manufacturers, and retailers – and redistribute this food to our network of vetted BOs across South Africa.

Virtual Foodbanking

FoodShare is FoodForward SA’s very own digital platform using technology to connect our beneficiary organisations to their nearest food retail partner store, for the regular collection of quality surplus food. In this way, FoodShare is capable of providing
access to quality food to the most remote areas across the country.

Second Harvest

In South Africa, 49% of all agricultural production is lost or wasted due to specification requirements, cold chain and processing inadequacies, or farmers not having access to markets. Second Harvest is our outreach programme to commercial farmers, allowing them to donate their post-harvest surplus produce to fight hunger.

Mobile Rural Depot

The MRD programme was established to ensure greater access to food for vulnerable, rural communities. Using our refrigerated trucks, we take nutritious monthly food provisions to our vetted rural BOs reaching 160,000 vulnerable people in 29 rural communities across South Africa.

School Breakfast Programme

In partnership with Kelloggs and PepsiCo, we provide nutritious breakfast cereals and milk to 50,000 children across South Africa – in crèches, as well as primary and secondary schools every school day.

Supply Chain Youth Internship

he supply chain is a huge barrier to entry for underprivileged youth. In an effort to reduce youth unemployment and equip them with skills and experience, we started a SETA-accredited 6 month Supply Chain Youth Internship, and aim to get them absorbed by one of our supply chain partners.
